We recently sat down with the duo to talk about their roots in the 90s rave scene, their unscripted tag-team sets, and their journey into the Twitch DJ community.

📼 The Roots: 90s Raves and Vinyl Rhythms

Azza and Bizzie’s musical journey is steeped in the golden era of dance music. For Azza, the love for electronic music was born in the late 80s and 90s rave scenes, surrounded by Hardcore and Jungle. Bizzie’s influences span from Prince and funk to living with a vinyl DJ in the 90s, which ultimately sparked her transition into dance music.

Having been behind the decks for six years now, their sound has naturally evolved. While Bizzie transitioned from house and funk to exploring a wider variety of genres (including a surprising love for Liquid DnB!), Azza has narrowed his focus. Today, they are selective and intentional, regularly spinning House, Hard Groove, and their absolute favourite: Hard House.

If you want a taste of their ultimate vibe, just listen for tracks that masterfully weave in oldskool samples or fresh remixes of classic anthems. A timeless favorite for both of them? Anything off the legendary Fantazia – First Taste album.

🎛️ Behind the Decks: A Tag-Team Approach

What makes an Azza & Bizzie stream so special is their organic, improvisational approach to performing. During a typical two-hour stream, they split the time down the middle, with Bizzie usually kicking things off.

“We never know what each other is playing, only the BPM” the duo shares.

While Bizzie focuses on hunting for musicality and interesting new sounds, Azza is highly organized. Mixing on a Traktor S2 MK4, he builds his sets methodically from categorized folders of “new” and “played” tracks, specifically reserving fresh, unplayed tunes to build the energy for their TSST sets.

🚂 Riding the Twitch Raid Train

Before making their mark on Twitch, Azza and Bizzie were radio DJs for a UK station. Craving a change, they took a friend’s advice and made the leap to live streaming. It’s a move that has paid off, greatly boosting their confidence as live performers.

For Azza and Bizzie, community is defined by “a mutual love of music.” This philosophy makes them a perfect fit for The Saturday Stream Team. Since being invited to join, they’ve fully embraced the raid train format.

🌴 Life Beyond the Booth

When they step away from the decks, you might be surprised by what keeps them busy. Bizzie is actually a qualified musician who unwinds by doing jigsaws, and has even created piano chords for other producers in the past. Azza, on the other hand, trades his headphones for gardening gloves—he is a “Bromeliad” hybridiser who has actually created his own unique plant hybrids!

When asked about their dream gig, the duo thinks beyond the traditional superclubs like Ibiza. Instead, you’d find them throwing down on a secluded tropical island, a mountain top, or deep in a rainforest. And if they could go back-to-back with anyone in history? It would be the Ratpack at Castle Donnington.
